In the series Generation I explore gender and sexual identity as a social construct.    This work consists of intimate sculptural forms that combine organic and manufactured materials with objects that are primarily used and owned by women. Individually, each piece suggests a body that is layered with an evocative aggregate of both personal and cultural attributes. Together these forms present an exploration of femininity, hybridity, and transgressive bodies.

  1. What drove you to this art form? Why was it important for you to explore such themes? What challenges arise when working with nontraditional materials and ideas?
